FAQs

CPE

What is CPE exactly?

We’re an education service at Designit, a global strategic design firm. We help organizations across the globe learn and adopt a human-centered approach to innovation. Check out Why CPE? to learn more about our services. If you’re curious about our history and where we’re headed next, visit Our Story.

What’s the learning experience like?

We design rich, multi-layered learning experiences that move beyond traditional classroom learning. No yawn-worthy lectures here; our training sessions are interactive, hands-on, and dynamic. You’ll be out of your seat, working with others, and learning through doing. Our content is rooted in our strategic design practice at Designit, so you’ll learn tools and methods you can implement at work tomorrow – from practicing designers who love to teach what they do. Get a glimpse of the learning experience in this video.

Where do you offer open-enrollment courses?

In the United States (New York and San Francisco) and Oslo. Check our schedule for what’s coming up next.

Is there a group discount for open-enrollment courses?

No, but we do offer an early bird special if your team members register one month or more in advance. For details, check the registration page for the course(s) that interest you. Or, use our contact form to connect with the Designit studio offering open-enrollment courses closest to you (in New York, San Francisco, or Oslo).

Do you offer online learning opportunities?

We do! If you’re looking for a solid introduction to design thinking, check out our highly rated “Cooper Crash Course: Design Thinking in 3 Steps”. You’ll learn the fundamentals through 1.5 hours of video and an independent practice project. Join our email list below if you’d like to be notified when new learning opportunities arise.

How do the certification programs work?

We offer two certificate programs that will cultivate a deeper knowledge of Design Thinking. Design Thinking Fundamentals is a three-course series focused on the core mindset and methodology of human-centered design. Advanced Design Leadership is a five-course series that teaches the fundamentals of design thinking and ways to mobilize others towards a shared mission. LinkedIn certificate badges are distributed upon completion of each series. To learn how to get started, visit our Certificate Series page.

What is the difference between open-enrollment and private training?

Our open-enrollment classes are designed for individuals and small teams who want to take one of our courses in a nearby Designit studio. In private training, we bring our courses to organizations.

In what languages do you teach?

Since we’re global, we can teach in a variety of languages, including English, Spanish, German, Norwegian, and Danish.

For Teams

How far in advance should we book services?

Ideally two to three months in advance. We’ll do our best to accommodate your team’s schedule if you need help with less notice.

Who are the coaches?

Our international education team consists of practicing designers at Designit who teach from their experience in the field. They have dynamic communication skills, a flair for facilitation, and plenty of personal stories about applying specific design thinking methods and tools.

How many people can attend a course?

Up to 25. We offer high-touch learning experiences and want everyone attending to receive personalized coaching. It’s more difficult to deliver that level of service for groups larger than 25.

Can we include remote participants in courses?

Our courses are designed to be highly interactive and therefore require in-person participation. We believe this hands-on environment is most conducive to learning the concepts we teach in the classroom. For disparate or remote teams, we recommend connecting our training to a time when the team will be together for an off-site. Or, consider our online course, Cooper Crash Course: Design Thinking in 3 Steps.

Can you customize your courses?

We want to make sure our services help your teams grow. To that end, we learn about your learning goals, culture, team, and challenges before we recommend a course, coaching, certification, or innovation program. Often, we find our existing services meet client needs well and don’t require significant changes. Our coaches are adept at shifting what and how they teach to fit each audience –expanding on certain modules, leading discussions that are tailored to the nuances of your team, and sharing case studies that parallel the work your company does. Once we understand your needs more, we can have an informed discussion about whether customization is necessary.

What other services do you offer?

In addition to courses, we provide coaching for teams, certificate programs, and innovation programs. The needs of each client are unique, so we’ll learn about you before we recommend a learning path. To read more about our range of services, visit For Teams.

What is coaching?

After teams take one of our courses, we can help them as they apply these new techniques to their own projects. For more information, go here.
