Interaction designers make critical decisions that bring products to life, affecting brand, customer loyalty, and success in the marketplace. Interaction designers can even save lives by making it easier for surgeons to remove tumors or making it easier for emergency dispatchers to deploy rescue personnel.
The Cooper Certification in Interaction Design helps designers ensure that their skills are up to the responsibilities of the job. Certification also gives product teams confidence that their designers are proficient in doing research as well as turning it into a design concept and eventually a detailed specification.

The Certification program is a work in progress because we want to ensure that each class we develop meets our high quality standards. Certification requirements include completing the following:
- Interaction Design Practicum
- Communicating Design
- Visual Interface Design & Digital Branding
- Evaluating Design (available fall 2008)
- The Business of Innovation
Candidates for certification must also pass a challenging written exam testing the skills and methods covered in their coursework.
