Sign up for Kiwi Cooper U!

Kia ora. In an earlier blog post, I asked if Kiwis would be interested in a January Cooper U, and despite it being in the “dead zone” of the summer holidays, the answer was an enthusiastic, “Yes!” So, we’re happy to open registration for a Kiwi Cooper U Practicum between 10-13 January.

A bit about the course

Our Interaction Design Practicum has been a popular offering since it was first launched. It's a four-day course, and it provides an overview of interaction design techniques and principles, with plenty of exercises and breakout sessions to give students a hands-on opportunity to try some of the techniques. (The material has even been revised over this past summer, so there's some new content for those who have already attended.)

Where will it be?

It was a close race, but between the comments and the emails we received, it looks like most attendees will be in Auckland. (Hopefully this won't be too discouraging for Wellingtonians.) We’ll be securing a venue over the next month. Registrants will of course be notified of all details as they are determined.

How much does it cost?

The cost for the course is USD 2150. If you register by December 17, Cooper offers a discount to USD 1950. An additional USD100 discount is offered for registering 2 or more people at the same time.

How many can attend?

We are counting on at least 10 registrants by December 1. Having fewer doesn’t make it financially feasible to keep the instructor away from adoring clients. The maximum number is 20. Having more than this diminishes the amount of instructor-attendee interaction to a point that is unsatisfying for both. As of this posting, we will be accepting registrants on a first-come, first-served basis. Our advance apologies if we must turn you away, but high demand increases the chance that we can send an instructor back again at some time. (Not to mention the lure of ice cold L&P.)

How do I sign up?

Download the registration form [PDF], follow the instructions, and we’ll see you there!

Will definitely be there!
Any idea yet where in Auckland? From out of town so need to look at accommodation options.

@Zef: We're still working through things right now, so don't know yet. I know accommodations are getting scarcer, so we've got a fire lit under us!
really looking forward to it. got the go ahead from work!!!
Hi - do you have an email address I can send our registration form too?
Chris Noessel
Amanda, you can mail it to our office admin Michael ( He'll take it from there. Thanks!
Chris Noessel
@Zef and all, we have finally confirmed the venue: It's CityLife Auckland, at 171 Queen Street. (09) 379 9222, so you can plan accommodation and travel. You'll likely be receiving email with this information as well if you have registered already.
Hi, I just stumbled across this, and was wondering if Australia is also a possibility in the next 12 months? I wouldn't have minded visiting beautiful New Zealand either, of course, but I've obviously missed the opportunity. Thank you, Michael
Trust me to be in the US, when you're in the NZ teaching :(
